Silent Planet. A complete experience.

WARNING!

Before to start with this blog, I warn them that your are about to read the post of a melomaniac. Please read with care.

For me, it's so difficult choose only one band/singer like my favourite (with the musical genres is similar). Always I had the idea of the music as a great river where in it flow a high quantify of conections and references, where each song (or art piece) is a drop.

In this meaning, I like a Norteamerican Hardcore band (yes... I love the hard music) called Silent Planet, a more interesting band that actually is considered as one of  revelation group in this genre.

The particularity of Silent Planet is in your leader, the Screamer Garrett Russell, because he through his lyrics generate dialogues betwen his vision of the society in the universal history, the contemporany reality (specially with de social problems) with your condition of christian, psychologist (this is very interesting, the people usually identify this areas as enemies) apart suffering a bipolar disorder (other dicotomy).

Garrett usually help us to understand his visions, putting references in the lyrics of his songs (like APA norms), delivering the idea that his songs are much more than simple song, these are bridges to word for discover. Other thing that I love is they provide links to healthcare network in the final of the songs in where they talks of complicate themes like depression and suicide, racism, bulimia or drugs addictions.

I provide for you the lyrics of Understanding Love as Loss like example.

I love all Silent planet Albums, but the songs that surprise me so much are the next:

  • Panic room, inspired by the testimony of his friend, Jeriel Clark, and is dedicated to every listener who has experienced the horrors of armed conflict.
  • Tiny Hands (Au Revoir), based on the story of Marguerite Rouffanche, sole survivor of the Oradour-sur-Glane massacre on 10 June 1944.
  • In Understanding Love as Loss Garrett talks about his visions around the problem of the depresion and the suicide like a final.
  • Orphan examines prejudices between different cultures and how those prejudices are shaped
  • Visible Unseen focuses on LGBTQ+ youth who have been forced to leave their homes due to rejection or being forced to leave home from their parents.
  • And in Trilogy  Garrett talks (or Scream) in a beautifully form about his experience with his bipolar disorder.
